Local Community Members Spread Cheer by Participating in Holiday Adopt-A-Family Program

Options for Community Living, Inc. gratefully acknowledges participants in its 2017 Holiday Adopt-A-Family Program! More than 60 needy families and individuals, who receive supportive services through Options, received holiday gifts through the generosity of community volunteers, private organizations and individuals!

Options is particularly grateful to Margolin, Winer & Evens LLP; Prologis; Suffolk Care Collaborative; Staples Business Advantage; The Society of St. Vincent de Paul; ICON PLC; Girl Scouts of Suffolk County; St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church of Smithtown; Dr. Scott’s Psychology Lab; The Student Occupational Therapy Association, Office of the Provost, and The Office of Communications all from Stony Brook University; as well as to everyone who so generously shopped, wrapped and donated!

Options Care Coordinator Emily Tredtin said she was “blown away” by the kindness of the community members who supported one of her families. “When I walked into my client’s home, I noticed that they had a beautiful Christmas tree set up, but no presents underneath. When I started bringing the gifts into the home, the family was so excited to be able to put the gifts under the tree,” she stated. “Options program participants have very low incomes and are struggling with serious illness and disability. Many would not receive gifts at all if not for the generosity of others. To this family, Christmas finally feels complete.”
