Options for Community Living, Inc. Awarded Two New York State Supportive Housing Grants

Options for Community Living, Inc. has been awarded two contracts under the New York State Supportive Housing Program (NYSSHP) through the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance. These NYSSHP awards together totaling $230,640 will enable Options to assist families and single adults residing in the agency’s supportive housing programs on Long Island.

“Our programs continue to grow and this award provides much needed financial support for Options’ case managers who work directly with residents in our housing,” stated Yolanda Robano-Gross, executive director, Options for Community Living.  “Supportive housing allows people to live with dignity in the community. It is the most humane and cost-effective solution to ending homelessness and creating stability for vulnerable people.”

Options’ residents pay an affordable rent and case managers make regular home visits to monitor health and safety, and teach skills, such as cooking, budgeting and much more so that the residents can live independently.  more than 600 Long Islanders reside in Options supportive housing with over 150 sites scattered throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
