Options Launches New Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) Program

Options for Community Living, Inc. (Options) has launched a new personalized Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program designed to help individuals recovering from mental illness and/or addiction improve their health and to achieve their goals. These services are available to adult Medicaid beneficiaries who are enrolled in a Health and Recovery Plan (HARP).

“Options for Community Living is pleased to be able to offer these new Home and Community Based Services to individuals in need as they work to improve their health and to achieve their goals,” said Yolanda Robano-Gross, Options’ executive director.

Options’ Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) program provides the following services:

  • Habilitation Services help individuals learn skills needed for independent community living. This may include help with self-care practices, time and money management, use of community resources, cooking, shopping as well as other tasks.
  • Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services focus on restoring basic skills that have been lost over time. Skill building will concentrate on health and wellness, financial management, social interaction and community relations.
  • Peer Support Services are administered by a peer specialist who provides guidance, empowerment and support to enrolled individuals through shared personal experiences.
  • Pre-vocational Employment Services help prepare people for employment or volunteer opportunities. Skill development can include effective communication strategies, punctuality, time management as well as other non-job specific tasks.
  • Education Support Services provide individuals with the support needed to return to school or to receive employment training.
  • Family Support and Training services are designed to help train and instruct the enrolled individuals’ family members how best to support their loved ones recovery efforts.
