On Friday, November 19th, employees, friends and supporters of Options for Community Living attended the Black vs. Pink Roller Derby Charity Game hosted by the Long Island Roller Rebels at Skate Safe in Old Bethpage.
Each year, the Roller Rebels end their season with a game to benefit a local not-for-profit and this year, the team chose Options for Community Living, Inc.
“We were thrilled and flattered to be chosen as the beneficiary of the proceeds from the annual charity game,” said Yolanda Robano-Gross, executive director, Options for Community Living, Inc. “In addition to being tremendous athletes, these women are very community minded. They are amazing!”
As a result of the evening, the Long Island Roller Rebels made a $1,000 donation to support Options programs for Long Island residents in need.
The Roller Rebels are Long Island’s first all-female roller derby league, celebrating 11 years in 2016. The league is a member of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, the sport’s foremost governing body with more than 270 member leagues.
